"Bert had a great day yesterday. First of all, he was able to raise his left hand and arm, along with the left leg after the therapist used electrical stimulation. Then for a few hours, the respiratory capped his trach. and he was able to talk without the mechanism that usually goes on the trach. This enabled him to speak more freely without laboring so much. And the best thing about that is he was breathing completely on his own with that nose thing they put in the nostrils!! (I hope you know what I am talking about!) They will gradually switch the #6 trach with a #4, but are not in a hurry because they want the swelling in his upper respiratory area to go away. Therefore, they are not giving him a swallow test until the swelling is down, but the speech therapist gave him a few pieces of ice and he did all right with it. To me, his greatest victories are those in which the Lord is showing Bert all kinds of things about himself. I am rejoicing with him over the way God is ministering to Bert. Healing is actually taking place pretty much right before our eyes. Thank you for praying, and God bless you tons.
