Berwick Town Council - REVEALED Investigation Costs I have - TopicsExpress

Berwick Town Council - REVEALED Investigation Costs I have written, and still await a response, to get a precise breakdown of the quoted cost of £15,000 for the investigations. The implications being, like everything else, that this is all my fault, presumably I wrote the complaint/grievance against myself..? I have not been part of any of the decisions to approve money in this way. The waste of money has been in that the Council have failed to conduct the necessary investigation to allow us to move forward in a positive way. I tried to suggest what this would look like, to seek a consensus for and agree the terms of reference but I was simply ignored. All this could have been nipped in the bud many months ago.. As far as I know the costs have been; £2,500 - for the initial investigation. This was a thorough investigation, viewing a large amount of documents and receiving input from many individuals. It produced three reports over my complaint, the mishandling of Portas and made a number of suggestions and recommendations about our policies and procedures (being currently out of date, far removed from best practice and not fit for purpose). £2,500 - for follow up work. This produced a contradictory report that the Clerk had no case to answer. No prizes for guessing which report the staffing committee went with..!? The second investigator only viewed one of the earlier reports, did not interview me about my own complaint nor contact me or respond to any of my correspondence. In the words of a third party who has also been threatened with action by the Clerk; how on earth was she given the all clear after those three reports..!?. A clue may be given in that at an early stage I was advised that the complaint/my allegations would fail if the confidentiality was breached, this happened after Cllr Langs comments in May which first put the existence of the investigation into the Clerk in the public domain.. £2,500 - approved under delegated authority for the Clerks grievance investigation against me and the Council. This was withdrawn/stripped right back at the last minute after taking 11 months to bring. £1,500 - for threatening me with legal action over this page. As previously detailed this was unlawful and a complete waste of public money; it involved one legal letter. I have called for those members party to this decision to reimburse the Council. I make that £9,000 so I am seeking confirmation where the other £6,000 comes from.. Of course, for a Council which under delegated authority gives a £25,000 to another organisation, spends £1000s at rate card advertising, whose tourism forum without any legitimacy or accountability agree, via email, with John Lord of Arch, £50,000 £70,000 of Portas money for their own projects ... this is not the area of spending which gives me the most cause for concern..!
