Besides Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, the Vice-Chancellors (VCs) of many universities, including Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid of UET Lahore, Prof Dr Khaleeq-ur-Rahman of GCU, Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran of Punjab University, Prof Dr Sabiha Mansoor of Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), Dr Suhail Naqvi of LUMS, Prof Dr Saleem Shujah, Rector Lahore University, Lt Gen (r) Muhammad Akram Khan, former VC UET, Dr. Nizamuddin, Chairman HED Punjab, Principals of different colleges, religious scholars, poet Amjad Islam Amjad, Dr Khursheed Hassan Rizvi, noted actor Sohail Ahmad, singer Shazia Mansoor and cricketers Nasir Jamshaid and Azhar Ali and a large number of students attended the event and paid tributes to the martyrs of Peshawar attack. Speaking on the occasion, Rana Mashhood Ahmad said the event was aimed to convey the message to terrorists that we were united and no one could damage the peace, unity and solidarity of this country. He delivered a message to the parents of the children and their relatives that we could not forget this incident and their patriotism. He said it was a resolve of the government to eliminate terrorism from the country. The minister further said we gathered here to show our enemies that whatever the circumstances our children would get education. Noted poet Amjad Islam Amjad also presented a wonderful poem to pay tributes to the martyrs of Peshawar school attack. Sohail Ahmad said we had to adopt and follow the teachings of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
