Besides being a mum to 13 kids, my job is to get you to help them too. Im a fundraiser, an advocate and a pain in the ass to those who feel orphans are not their problem. The ice bucket challenge is great and its got many NGOs wondering how to step it up! But Im not going to make you pour ice over your body...our new home has no running water so its precious to me. Im also not going to ask you to physically do anything for Im sure life is hard for you too. I am however going to challenge you to really LOOK at what were doing. I challenge you to look at old pictures and new pictures. I challenge you to remember that Patrick and I have together carried 2 of our precious, precious babies to the grave because they came to upinde too late...Mercy waited for placement for 3 months before we found her, Lee waited 2 months before we opened. I challenge you to see each and every smile that has developed from heartache, loss and abandonment. I challenge you to truly get to know us. Then, if you choose to help us in fighting for the once random children who make Upinde family, we welcome you...we cannot do this alone. Weve taken up the challenge of being mum and dad of the upinde family...now Im inviting you to join the family that us upinde and raise some much needed funds to keep these little ones exceeding lifes expectations.
