Besides being my mothers birthday, August 24 is generally accepted - TopicsExpress

Besides being my mothers birthday, August 24 is generally accepted as the date of the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. This chilling computer animation shows how it happened. Notice the birds at the beginning of the video .... Its a strange phenomenon, but my caged birds are feathered seismographs. They pick up the slightest tremors ... even hundreds of miles away. They are an assortment of orphans from neighbors and the vet ... an motley bunch of canaries, parakeets (budgies), cockatiels, a rosella and a Senegal parrot ... who ended up here when nobody else wanted them. During the Full Moon and New Moon I can always expect them to panic during the night, even though their cages are covered and they cant see the moon. The New Moon is Monday so I know I will get little sleep tonight. I remember once years ago there was a mild earthquake in the Rhineland, 3.4 points or something. It occurred at about 3:30 in the morning. The birds all went berserk and I got up to calm them. I looked at the clock and wondered what could have upset them at that ungodly hour. Next morning on the radio, it was announced that a quake had rocked Cologne and Dusseldorf at 3:30. But that was hundreds of kilometers away ... how did the birds know? Well, they just know these things. In Ancient Rome, augurers observed the flight of birds to determine if a day was going to be auspicious. If the birds take wing and leave ... then you should to. Dont dither. Dont stop to pack. Just go! youtu.be/LjiJvpLoyt4
