Barahona offers a variety of charming experiences designed to bring the visitors closer to the natural beauty and vibrant culture of the Dominican Republic. La Canoa, located in Barahona, has thermal waters full of minerals, a natural spring from the earth reaching temperatures up to 42 degrees Celsius - higher than the surface temperature. These blue waters have a strong sulfur odor, rich in mineral components, used in therapeutic baths, inhalations, irrigations, heating, useful also for one of the most active desease, stress and many other curative properties are present in these waters. There is an ambicous project, quote "of 1.5 billion US$". This type of specialized project invites tourists to obtain therapeutic rest and relaxation in the thermal waters and to be in contact with nature, thus improving their quality of life while, at the same time, putting them in close contact with the country´s culture and customs.
