Best April Fools Joke Ive ever done: SAND FARMER - TopicsExpress

Best April Fools Joke Ive ever done: SAND FARMER I was flying back from Michigan a couple years ago and I was in the middle seat. A nice lady in her mid to late 50s was in the window seat. Well call her, Mary. Mary was looking out the window as we were about 50 miles out from landing here in Phoenix. As Mary looked down at the ground she noticed all the little round a square brown things on the ground. We all know that those round and square things are fields that are plowed up by farmers, waiting to plant something else. Well Mary says, Excuse me sir, do you know what those little brown square and round things are? Now without so much as a second hesitation I told her, They are Sand Farms, in fact, I am a Sand Farmer. I could tell she was questioning that by the look on her face so I went on to tell her how we do it. I said, Mary, what we do is go to the Rock Rancher and have him grind up some sandstone and quartz rocks and depending on what type of sand we are growing would determine the size of the ground up rock we needed. You see Mary, those square things are where we grow our playground sand or cement type sand. We spread out the crushed rock over the field and you know the weather here in Arizona gets really hot during the day and then at night, because we very rarely have cloud cover, it gets really cold. So during the day the crushed rock heats up real hot and expands and then at night it cools real fast, shrinks and starts to crack. This causes the crushed rock to break apart turning into sand. Now depending on what type of sand we need, coarse, med fine to very fine will determine which type of field we put it in. The playground sand usually only takes about 6 months to create and so does concrete sand. The fields get raked every day to mix up the crushed rock so it performs better and is more consistent. Now sand blasting sand is very fine and takes about 2 years to produce and that is what the round things are out there on the ground. We use the round areas because that sand needed to be raked by a special machine that keeps going around it all day and night long. In fact you might see a line in the round areas out there right now. Mary looks out the window and excitably says, I see it! I go on to explain, Mary, we make most of all the sand you see sold in stores or used at playgrounds, etc and Sand Farming has been around as long as the Rock Ranchers have. About this time Mary says, This is so exciting to meet and actual Sand Farmer. Hey listen, my daughter and I are heading to Alaska to celebrate her 30th birthday and shes in the seat across the aisle and back 1, could you tell her what you do when we get off the plane in Phoenix, we have a two hour layover? I told her no problem. So as we disembark off the plan, I am explaining everything to the daughter too and then the daughter says, WOW! Ive heard of Sand Farmers before, but Ive never really met one! With that, I left them in the terminal without telling them it was a joke, couldnt break their hearts. So now there are a lot of people in Alaska and Michigan, where they are from, being told about Sand Farmers and Rock Ranchers!
