A choice of three sealing times, as well as instant seal for crushable berries and extended vacuum for thick, moist meats, provides exceptional control over the storage process. After food is placed in either an 8- or 11-inch-wide bag, the edge is laid along the machine’s Teflon-coated sealing strip and the lid is closed. Both palms are pressed briefly on the lid, then released, which activates a green light. The machine then creates a wide, tight seal and the light turns off. FoodSaver’s patented reusable five-ply bags, made of UV-protective and FDA-approved materials, can be frozen (and prevent freezer burn on foods), microwaved, boiled, and washed in the dishwasher. The Vac 1200 kit includes three quart-size and two gallon-size bags, along with an 11-inch-by-10-foot roll that can be cut to customized lengths. Additional rolls, bags, and accessories are available separately. The included how-to video takes away all the guesswork, and an illustrated instruction strip inside the machine refreshes the memory on how to create a seal.
