Best Pea Picking Summer 2014 September 11, 2013 6:30 Attendees: Sue Dietz, Mary Ann Timm, Doug Timm, Debbie Monroe, Donna W., Karin Flyte, Kay Aanensen A big THANKS to all who helped make the first Best Pea Picking Summer 2013 what it was. We have > $2500.00 in the bank. We have a few accounts to settle but they are minor. We will end up in the black and able to get Best Pea Picking Summer 2014 off the ground. We decided that the Best Pea Picking Summer 2014 (Hereafter referred to as BPPS), will be held at the Hancock Community Center. Tentatively the vendors will be in the hall, games will be on the grounds, car show in the field, and the tractor pull will be on the back driveway with the hill providing spectator seating. Chairpersons: Vendors: Sue Diet Games: Tractor Pull: Kay and Joel Aanensen Food: Donna W. T-shirts: Karen Donations: Debbie Peterson and Deb Monroe Car show: Doug Timm Baskets: What worked and what to do in 2014: Food: Chicago hot dogs and walking tacos, also have regular cheaper hot dogs. Games: “pea” bag toss, spoon races with peas, blow peas with a straw on a course (tarp?) H2O balloons, sack races, 3 legged race, frog jumping, hula hoops, pea ring toss. Car show, we decided on Hobo again. Since the meeting I understand he has been contacted and is on board. Vendors: Will send out notices soon. (Since meeting I did send out an e-mail to several vendors from last year and already have 2-3 who want to return.) Tractor pull: Kay and Joel will try to get a sponsor. They are going to look at Brooks who is building now in Plover. Baskets: We need to revamp the ticket situation. It didn’t work well and was hard for the volunteers. Porta- potties Some new ideas: Pea cook off, Pea recipes and facts, Wisconsin pea facts, Flags to direct people to activities, The Welcome Station was a good idea, we will redo the donor board this year, and (Top of the Vine donors, $250.00 or more will have a plaque on the board). Advertising: Local radio, we were on The Bug and Waupaca radio. Try for more area radio stations, Press: Argus, look for more press, Madison, Milwaukee. TV, Green Bay, Wausau, Waushara Guide, local activity boards, Banks, Posters, face book, internet Community Center: Get more benches, picnic tables, (should be labeled and painted. We decided to meet monthly, third Wednesday for now at 6:30 at the Walker House. NEXT MEETING WED. OCT. 16TH, 6:30 WALKER HOUSE. Please spread the world. All volunteers are welcome.
