The entire magazine, as well as past issues, is available online. xelawho: A slightly irreverent English-language magazine produced in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, and directed at the towns large population of foreign-language students, this site has honest reviews and a wealth of useful information. This site is not just for political animals but worth visiting for updates on ongoing issues and up-and-coming cultural events throughout the region. lanic.utexas.edu: The Latin America Network Information Center is a University of Texas initiative that provides an extensive directory and database. Primarily used for academic research, it also facilitates education programs. alfatravelguide: A small independent website that gives good listings for hotels and travel agents all over Central America, including contact information. Alfa Travel Guide is excellent, but has not been updated for well over a year. I have lived 20 years now in San Salvador and have not been mugged once, there is violence in marginal areas or slums and in impoverished areas throughout Central America, just use common sense, several of our guests at teh Hostel in San Salvador have returned from paradise Costa Rica after being robbed there on Buses or in and around Bus Stations.
