Best after-opening-gift-line of Christmas 2014: All I got is this big, dumb light bulb! Backstory... Our five-year-old boy has been pining away for a disco ball for months... (yes, I know, my 70s influence on my kids is apparent)... anyway... I wasnt too hip on the idea of changing out his light fixture in his bedroom for a disco ball (for obvious reasons)... but I did find a party bulb which makes any fixture into an instant disco ball! (Mother of the year award, thank you very much!)... However... when my little man opened his present, his face sunk and his little lip began to tremble... looking around at his siblings, he gazed upon their gifts and rather impetuously said, Look! They got all that cool stuff and all I got was this big, dumb light bulb! I told him to go get the desk lamp from his room and bring it to me. He slunked off and returned a moment later with the desk lamp. I replaced the bulb with his new, big, dumb bulb, plugged it in and let him turn on he switch. Suddenly the room was awash in psychedelic brilliance and his face was instantly transformed into a sparkling wash of smiles and eyes brighter than the bulb. He exclaimed, Oh! I LOVE my big, dumb light bulb! Thank you! Thank you!... Ah, the magic of Christmas.
