Best night of dancing ever: 1989, LAmour East, 77-00 Queens Blvd, Elmhurst Queens, where I lived from 1985-89. The tiny place was packed with mostly local Colombians from the area and nearby Jackson Heights (in those days, aka Cocaine Heights). My favorite band, Grupo Niche, started playing at 8pm and did not stop till 5am. And people kept dancing, even after the music stopped, for another hour, until the sun came out at 6am. Rest in peace Jairo Varela, the Lennon AND McCartney of Columbia, who composed countless memorable hits, selflessly arranged them for other incredibly famous and talented singers, and put Colombian salsa on the map. And each one was a twofer - halfway through each song a new rhythm would kick in. His music was part of the soundtrack to my life in the late 1980s. Heres 100 of hist best songs (yes he had that many), and No Hay Quinto Malo https://youtube/watch?v=Po_kel7q-e4&list=PLC66FB48AFAB1C441
