Best of the Animals- The Animals 1966 Yesterday I was treated to a picture purported to be me. In this picture alleged to be me Im wearing a double breasted checked jacket and mock turtle neck(I owned a mock?). Wow, the truth of youth, anyway that mid-plains mod look from circa 1967 reminded me of an Animals song and so here I am listening to Eric Burdon sing House of the Rising Sun. Radio friendly and chilling at the same time. I still love to hear it come on the radio. They covered songs from Ray Charles(Talkin About You)John Lee Hooker(Boom Boom)Bo Diddley(Story of Bo)and Sam Cooke(Bring It on Home) a musical primer, if you will. The Cobblestones used to play Dont Let Me Be Misunderstood at Miller Park and it was pretty cool. The rest as you know is history, Chas Chandler saw a left-handed guitar player in New York and took him to London and there was a Jimi Hendrix Experience...and thing, umm, changed. For an extra music treat, try Nina Simone singing House of the Rising Sun. Hey, just try Nina Simone sometime. Im still not sure thats me in that double-breasted jacket, but Ill own it, if everyone is sure. Its My Life. Bobby Bare Jr. tickets bought and Lucinda coming to town, I better go do something.
