Best of what i read: Learn from the pros This is understood, but to be successful in almost anything you must learn from the pros. Creating a successful blog is no different. You can learn so much from bloggers at the top of their game in such a short time, in comparison to learning from your own experience. The first step is to identify a successful blog in your niche. This is probably going to be obvious to you, but you might still need to do some research. Once you have pinpointed the blog that you want to analyze, you want to observe carefully, and make note of the following things: • What topics are they covering? • Are they ignoring certain topics? • What topics are the most popular? • What is the frequency of posting? Daily, Weekly, biweekly, Monthly? The purpose of this exercise is to identify what is working well on this popular blog, and then try to find anything that the site is not covering or not covering well. Then, use this opportunity to fill the gaps with your blog. When you analyze blogs in your niche, you get to understand what works well in your niche, and what opportunities there are to fill any gaps left by these blogs on your own blog. Remember what I said at the beginning - you should copy success. What I mean by this is that you should copy what they did, not their content or replicate every aspect of another blog. There is a wealth of knowledge and strategies that you can learn from top blogs but always make sure that you differentiate yourself and that you are unique. Also, it is important not to get too carried away when doing this task. By spending too much time analyzing your competitors, you won’t focus on what is important, which is creating great content and optimizing your site for SEO.
