Best perk me up songs A- Z – Round 2 – Today’s letter O. Oh Woman Oh Why by Paul McCartney. The B-side of the hit Another Day from 1971. This was rechnically the first single ever released by Paul McCartney. I’m not saying this is an AMAZING song but I always liked the groove and it truly had the feel of an early to mid 70’s rocker. I like this track. I have to play a scratched up single version which sonically is a little thin but it best represents the “actual” total sound of this single the way I remember it sounding on the old stereos back then. The key to the whole song lies in the grungy clicking rythym guitar sound of this which is well represented on this version. All rythyms and cross rythyms build off it. There are other far superior mixes on Youtube of this song BUT the grungy guitar is too cleaned up sounding on all of the sonically superior mixes and you almost can’t hear that guitar or it loses its edgy sound. This song does not have any oomph when that rythym guitar is too clean so I’m going with a lesser mix quality until Youtube gives me a higher quality mix with the grungy guitar. This is the sound of 1971 in my mind – part of it anyways. https://youtube/watch?v=_lPUXtn3BbE&feature=player_detailpage
