Best thing about the day today: we got stuck in a MASSIVE traffic jam due to a protest and three streets were at a complete stop. And you know what people here did about it? They all got out of their cars and talked with each other to solve the issue and move traffic along. (Instead of honking, giving people the finger and swearing). I really like this country! Second best thing about the day today: the boys in my car made friends with a car behind us by goofing around with them and making funny faces to get the people to laugh. What a unique connection they had with those people in the car behind us. When traffic finally moved it was like our car and this car of strangers were a team and we all cheered when we made it out of the jam together. There IS however, a lot of poverty. And all but one of the volunteers had never seen anything like this before. I think this week is going to be a real eye-opener for a lot of them. They are here for a reason, hopefully to try to reach out in the future.
