Christmas City In 1937, The Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce started a nationwide letter writing effort to 2,500 Chambers of Commerce asking each of them to notify their local newspapers of the campaign to make Bethlehem, Pennsylvania “the Christmas City”. It was suggested that people throughout the country send their Christmas cards to Bethlehem to receive the “Christmas City” cancellation. Live Advent Calendar: Event Time: Daily at 5:30 PM Eveny day at 5:30 The Goundie House, Bethlehem’s first brick house is the site of the Live Advent Calendar. Whoever is waiting outside will receive the treat of the day! Visitors to Historic Downtown Bethlehem will enjoy this seventh-annual, one-of-a-kind tradition! 35th Annual Live Bethlehem Christmas Pageant Event Time: 1:45 p.m. Singing, narration, actors and live animals come together in this reenactment of the historical events surrounding the birth of Christ. This event takes place outdoors. SteelStacks Gingerbread House Competition & Exhibit Stop by and see amazing gingerbread house creations in five different categories – Traditional Gingerbread House; Student Gingerbread House Creation for grades six-eight and nine-12; Kids & Family Gingerbread Creation for ages 12 and under. Historic Hotel Bethlehem Christmas Tour Experience a self-guided tour of the hotel’s dazzling Christmas displays.
