Let it defeat you: Two bible characters fit into this scenario. They are Judas Iscarriot and Apostle Simon Peter. Both of them denied Jesus, they committed similar offences. They let Jesus down after enjoying three wonderful years together. The difference between the two of them however was how they handled their failure and defeats. Judas couldnt live with it, he couldnt forgive himself, he felt death was the only way out and he hanged himself. Peter was equally devastated especially after the whole bragging he made to Jesus. He was down but he somehow knew he was not out. He gave himself a chance. God is a master in the art of helping to mold and mend us when we come to our wits end. If and only if we let him. Ben Carson is a world renowned neuro surgeon and God has helped him to perform outstanding medical feats but he had a very negative background that could have defeated him making him a nobody or an outright failure. He was born into abject poverty and raised by a single mother. He struggled throughout school and had a furious temper. Most people that knew him then said he wouldnt amount to much in life. He did so poorly in school and could be categorized as dull but his mother wouldn’t give up on him. She was poor but made Ben read two books a week and write a book report on each. Ben eventually went on to graduate with honors from Southwestern High School, attended and graduated from Yale, and got his M.D. from the University of Michigan. Bens mother was not the only woman in this situation, with a troublesome child, run away father and in abject poverty, there are a countless others who have become statistics and nobodies.
