“Better than I could have ever imagined” 5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago I have been an avid Tripadvisor reader for many years and enjoy the honest reviews. The #1 thing I want to say is when you get to Jamaica shake off all of your worries, and start to absorb the vibe. When Jamaicans say no worries they mean it. It took me a few days to adjust to this but I got the hang of it. Coming from a hustle bustle city it took some time for me to unwind and get in the island spirit. Almost like I had some nervous unraveling to do. The Jewel made this process very easy. The Jewel does an excellent job. They are accommodating, friendly and provide top notch service. The entertainment crew was by far the best. Mayor and Happy Feet are so much fun. Keep an eye out for Sassy. She is awesome and keeps the party going. They did a great job of nightly entertainment, trivia, variety shows and various other types of entertainment. If you are thinking about going to Ocho Rios do not give it a second thought and BOOK WITH THE JEWEL. The special touches like a crisp, cool towel upon your arrival are only the beginning of the welcoming feel. They also greet you with the drink of the day. It is the detailed, special touches that I pride the Jewel for. You can book a professional photo session too. No pressure and you don’t pay for the session just the pictures you would like to purchase. We ended up with so many special photo memories and a family portrait. Kevin our photographer was able to get all 8 of us and capture the most magical moments. He has such an eye for photography. It takes about 1 ½ hours from Montego Bay. Well worth the drive. I was fearful my motion sickness would kick in but I was just fine. I didn’t even take a Dramamine. Those that are having second thoughts about the shuttle ride from Montego Bay to Ocho Rios fear not. It is a beautiful ride. Take in the scenery, enjoy the culture and allow yourself to melt into a new experience. Once you are a week away from your arrival date, email the Jewel to make a reservation for the Jade Garden. This is the only reservation required restaurant at the Jewel. Make your reservations ahead of time. Well worth it and delicious. Most of the food was pretty yummy. The primavera pizza from the pizza oven was great too. They also have a dessert pizza. We tried this and yup it was pretty out of this world. The food and drinks are great but it is the fine people at the Jewel that make this resort special. The next time we go to Jamaica I won’t even think twice about booking with another resort. Personally I wouldn’t shop around and go somewhere new since my family and I had an outstanding experience at the Jewel.
