“Better to meet a bear robbed of her cubs than a fool in his folly,” (Pr. 17:12). A true fool is vicious, wild and violent in the midst of his folly. Wisdom warns us to avoid encounters with a raging fool and recognizes there is no hope for one who is genuinely rebellious through and through. There is practicality in this proverb, since there are others that warn us to avoid the company of such people. Choose companions carefully. Don’t merely allow yourself to be chosen.
