Betty Lou and William Jeffreys from Coffeeville are bringing in some of the nicest local pumpkins weve had - different colors and sizes, thick stems, great prices. And just super good people. The store is turning the corner into autumn now. Lots of greens, so we smoked a big round of tasso. Still a few local tomatoes, squash and okra, but most of the stone fruit has been replaced by apples and pears. The last bushels of Lafayette peas and butterbeans are shelled out and ready. Plenty of green boiling peanuts. Jose Najar brought a bunch of decorative gourds, lots of different shapes and sizes. The Clevelands restocked us with another flush of oyster mushrooms, Hugh brought by some new flavors from Sweet Magnolia Ice Cream Co., and the lumpia spring roll wrappers finally sobered up and dragged their sorry butts into the freezer.
