Between Dec.31st 1983 and August 27th 1985 traders in Nigeria were subjected to the most inhuman treatment in the history of mankind by a draconian administration of that era! They were forced to sell their goods below the cost price under the supervision of stern looking soldiers, and this action was carried to every nook and crany of the country in wht the then dictatorial leadership called price control. Then, buyers were queuing up to buy goods at ridiculous prices to the detriment of innocent traders who were only doing business to make ends meet. As informed minds, many Nigerians wondered wht the authorities at that time intended to achieve when it was clear that the traders who were just middle men in the chain of distribution were nt in a position to determine the prices of goods. Many of them were sent to their early graves while some never recovered to date as a result of that aimless policy by Buhari administration. Now,one begins to wonder, does it mean that Nigerians hv short memories? Does it mean that Nigerians are frustrated to the level of falling bk at a stone aged era political actors who believe in brutality as the only means of achieving results? It is implicit that brutality applied in error can never achieve any positive result bt wl rather compound things. It is also clear that an intelligent and organized system thru advanced technologies can improve the lots of any societies wtout having to bully the citizens in an unnecessary and needless war of extinction. I am of the humble opinion that Nigeria shld be moving forward after 28yrs of that uggly experience rather than talking of going bk to Egypt! Well, the choice is ours!
