Between Is lam and Terrorism Ideology By Aremu Lateef Olalekan Posted by Editor As the light of guidance dims, our world sinks deeper and deepe r into the ocean of negativity. The most pronounced of such negativity is ignorance which simply describes absence of light. Arrogance and terrorism is the product of the same root. The society has sunk. deep into ignominy of parallel division which pitches two desperate groups against each other. It is now a struggle between light and darkness, good and bad and for the terrorist schools, for us or against us. The moderates who tend to see a meeting point in so many shades of gray are simply waved away as cowards. The first school led by the western nations engage in international provocations, plunders, exploitation, insidious but very effective internal manipulation of countries (the current situation in Syria, Egypt and the Libya issue we re examples of such manipulation) killing and maiming while claiming to be setting things right. The other school and this are the many strayed Muslims who respond to violence with violence and refuse to take the high ground as our prophet did. This school is getting consumed in the free for all barbarism of the modern age. We need to put our Deen in proper perspective so that we operate within moderation and respond to injustice with justice. Our prophet (saw) defines arrogance as suppressing the truth and looking down on othe rs. Much has been written on the reason why Muslims must rise and take charge, but little has been written on the cause s of our deterioration and collapse. Our scholars rarely go beyond saying that Muslims have deteriorated because they parted company with Quran and the sunnah. The cohesion and victory of this ummah will be based on what brought about the well being of the earliest ummah when applied to the present. In o ther words, we need to know how we can adopt the methodology of our predecessors and apply it to the present in its state of flux. The protestant group who act in the name of religion failed to rea d the true meaning of the emergence of secular powers. The fact that power and glory is ever changing hand in the world. The second ular terrorists on their part, failed to grasp the fact that power in reality belong to God and like other defunct powers, they will soon be part of history giving room to others to participate in the temporal drama of life. Muslim s should realize that to seek immediate and urgent change via violence or whatever means is a sign of westernization itself. To use the very unislamic enemi es’ elimination methods in the name of Islam and to attack civilians simply because modern barbarians are doing just that to our own is to say the least, a great insult to our noble religion. Modern Muslims despe rately desire glory, the caliphate and the total Islamic victory but lack the patience, the studiousness, the manner, the sense of sacrifice and heroism of our predecessors. Our superiors chose Allah, lived for Allah. and died for Allah and along the line, victory and glory come without desire. We have unfortunately taken the other way, the wrong way, the way of the west. The prophet of Allah (saw) said “whoever act in the tradition of a group will be raised amongst them on the day of recompense”
