Bev Klatt asks - How are you jamming all this in? The answer is easy - Its Grey Cup week. But more than that, our strategy for Grey Cup week is to liberally sprinkle in downtime each day. The mornings are spent pretty much at home, without an event. We have good meals each day, to provide a solid base - Tom has premade Chicken Soup with Rice (yum) and Shepherds pie. Friday is the traditional hitting the wall day where the buildup of euphoria and excitement transcends everything for awhile. To avoid becoming Ms. Grey Cup Grumpy Pants, I just took myself out of the game for awhile and returned refreshed. A big old shot of sugar from a peppermint hot chocolate also helped elevate my blood sugar. And for this week, other than the chili, we are not prepping meals - weve ordered a Grey Cup buffet for Sunday and are otherwise eating the prepared meals or the beef on a bun, brisket or lobster rolls at the venues. Last night, by 10:30, Evraz Place had quieted down and we could do a quick swing through the rest of the hospitality rooms, to check them out. Our strategy there is do a lap on the outside of the room, to see what they all have - clothing, pins, food, drink etc. You can do a quick sweep if nothing is catching your eye - youve seen one Grey Cup hospitality room, youve pretty much seen them all although there were some nice enhancements in the Atlantic Schooner one this year, with game tables from the Boys and Girls Club of Regina (who knew that was still around)? Also, all of them have gone high tech with the big screens showing past games or pics from their province or of the fans.
