Bhev. Labeouf. Up Above. Vaibhev. Maybe it took us so long to get his name right because we were way too distracted by his ever present personality. He didnt even have to give u his name when he spoke, because you knew after kicking it with him a few times youd remember the personal interactions you had shared.....Bhev and Is friendship was not of the closest proximity one might say....and instead had the characteristics of one that was felt more at a distance. Sure we hung out at parties. Talked to each other in the halls. And I knew of my friends close relationships with him. But i dont think I ever fully grasped the power your personality had on leaving its mark on people. Who was this kid that had such an all around acclaim through the many varied Acalanes social groups, regardless of who those social groups were?....He was friends with my friends of course.... A fine young assortment of gentlemen.....He was friends with athletes, the faculty..... and girls aplenty....And it was clear his social life was booming whilst never compromising his personal drive to be successful...... For Vaibhev this wasnt enough though. If theres one thing for certain I can take away from the stories Ive heard about him.....is that he always needed to one up himself.... How could he TRULY reach the masses of his highschool...from an even higher platform, when he clearly already stood out?.....Hmm?Maybe he could get elected president of the senior class.... and to top it all off....maybe just give the graduation speech in front of all his peers, teachers, and of course, his peers extended....extended family? Perhaps it was just a destined route for the class president, perhaps he was coerced, perhaps he just liked the feeling of being in front of people, and the vulnerabilities that brought about..... I on the other hand like to believe it was something more. That perhaps he knew more than he let on, that he knew of the unpredictable obstacles life throws at us. He knew that to make your mark on the world throughout your LIFE, youve first got to make your mark on the world TODAY.....youve gotta take advantage of every opportunity to do so. And he never shied away from these opportunities.....If you didnt know Vaibhev by the time graduation came to a close. Then you had to have lived in a box on the outer skirts of school grounds. By the time our caps were soaring through the air on that warm June afternoon, Vaibhev was the last one standing.....On Saturday many of us will say goodbye to Vaibhev for the last time. Remember how he made all of you feel. Remember the way he never ASKED to be at the center of the student body. He TOOK every last turn to ensure he was. And in that ....he had the mightiest farewell of us all. More of a farewell than we could ever give him. If theres one thing I regret about knowing you Vaibhev. It was having not known you enough. What I lacked in not knowing you enough though, and what Im sure any of the other students lacked.... you made up for by making sure WE KNEW YOU. And Im here to tell you Vaibhev .....You undoubtedly, and wholeheartedly succeeded.....not to mention you did it all with that style we came to know so well. Rest in Paradise bud.... That ever so beautiful paradise you brought forth for the world to see.
