Bhubaneswar had its first art auction yesterday night at Mayfair (organizer: BKRT 230, Round Table of India). Lord Ganesh, the God of Knowledge was the first painting to go for auction brought by us. The proceeds of the charity would go to making a school for the have nots and so Little Steps Preschool, India was thrilled to pick it up from the private collection of Mr Pradipta K Mohapatra, the man credited for having brought retailing to India. Spencers, Foodworld, Health &Glow, Music world, Saregama are a few organizations he helped setup and sits on the board of many public and, more interestingly, start ups in Asia, UK and USA. An avid art collector he conducted the auction and it was a lovely to converse and learn from him for a long one hour till the wee hours of midnight. Art is such a wonderful, beautiful, fulfilling pursuit.
