Bhutan doesnt have Independence day, Bhutan only have National day This is what I told to my two niga frens from Tanzania (Africa) who joined me n my frens for a drink. All most all the countries in the world were one time a conqueror or being conquered. Some ruled over some n some got ruled by some. Ya it is true Bhutan is not known to many of the countries around the world n they dont believe when we say we are the sovereign nation since beginning. I had to narrate the whole history, from the time before our monarch came into rule. I had to tell him how China n India were longstanding political rivalries. Bhutan was kind of buffer state between these two giants. Infact it was 1st monarch of Bhutan who mediated n consolidated one of the major event which wud have otherwise resulted into a severe war. So our 1st king was honoured with a title of Sir. My foreign fren was with a view that just by using the passageway, Bhutan is considered to be colonized. But its wrong. Just by being benefit to someone else doesnt come within the purview of colonization. Colonizing means conquering another nation state or part of it with effort n intention to bring that State under ones rule. It is something to do with losing sovereignty of a nation. Sovereignty is at stake. Bhutan never faced that. Geographically we are just a small landlocked country but we had brilliant n reliable rulers who protected our Nation from all these worldly witches. We still have our monarch who just live for his country n people. People are united with great sense of nationalism, the customs n traditions are unique, culture n heritage are alys intact. This makes Bhutan a tiny crystal like valuable sovereign Nation among the rest of the Nations. Pelden Drukpa Gyel lo.
