Bible Etc. June 24, 2014 I am committed daily to reading daily from the Old Testament; also from the New; something from the Qur’an; and a hadith. And, I am posting daily comments on Facebook. OT Reading the CEV (Contemporary English Version) in course. Psalm 22. A Psalm with echoes from Jesus dying on Calvary. My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me? They take my clothes and gamble for them. Still, my strength comes from God. Everyone on earth will remember the LORD. People yet unborn will be told: “The LORD has saved us.” NT now reading in course. Acts 9:19-43. Paul preaches in Damascus. He has so much opposition, he has to be lowered over the city wall in a basket. Barnabas vouches for Paul in Jerusalem. Paul argues with the Jews who speak Greek. At Lydda, Peter heals Aeneas, who has been sick in bed for eight years. Later he brings Tabitha=Dorcas or deer, back to life. Qur’an 9:107-110. There are people who built a Mosque in Medina to cause dissention. The Prophet is not to pray in that Mosque. What is better, to build on the consciousness of God, or to build on the brink of a crumbling precipice that will tumble down into the fire of Hell? This is a distant echo to the Bible, the Sermon on the Mount, where Jesus compares the wise man who builds on a rock, and a foolish man who builds on the sand. Matthew 7:24-27. Hadith. Sahih Al-Bukhari. Book 5. Chapter 1 Verse 186. Page 136. A hadith about ablutions after intimacy. Washing the private parts but not the feet. Blood sugar 77. Blood pressure before exercise 134/75. My weight has dropped down to 207#, though now the needle is slightly over the 207# marker. Now I am 83# under my gross maximum of 290#, and there still remain 27# of fat and blubber to get to my goal of 180#. I have accomplished 77% of goal, with 23% remaining. This is my 184th day of Royal Canadian Air Force exercises so on the second chart, I am finally on level D. I need to do 12 sit-ups for the next eight consecutive days to advance to the next level. I will spend 12 minutes on the elliptical trainer. Yesterday was a pump man who fixed an outdoor pipe leaking because of the fall of a tree limb. The first three times he came he thought I was not home…no Caddy in the drive way. Ooops… no more Caddy since June 13, 2013. Was treated to a birthday dinner, and now have a NOOK electronic book reader. I have it charging. Today, coffee with the old guys at Coffee and Cream, see Addie, work around the house, yard, and home office getting ready for Sunday. Everyone who reads this is invited to Addie and my 31st wedding anniversary on Wed. June 25 at 2 pm in the dining room of Williston rehab, 300 NW 1 Ave., Williston.
