Bible Memorization Read Psalm 119:9-16 Encouragement for the day – “I have treasured Your word in my heart so that I may not sin against You.” Psalm 119:11 Holman Christian Standard The fire service has come a long way in regards to technology in the past 30 years. When I was a volunteer in Upstate, New York we used to have these bulky devises that would go off to let us know we had an emergency. If the officers or drivers did not know where the emergency was they had to look it up on a map before leaving the station. This practice of memorizing the streets in the district lead to firefighters putting in long hours to study the area in order to ensure they knew where they were going. The reports that were required to be filled out by the officer had to wait until the company returned to the station, and they were filled out by hand. Today, as an officer I have a computer that sits in front of me that I am able to use as we return back to the station. This computer is used to dispatch our company on runs, give us the running routes if we are unsure, let us know of any hazards in the buildings we are running in to, and communicate with other companies responding on the run. Technology has greatly improved efficiency for first responders. Technology has also improved how Christians can learn and memorize Bible verses. Today’s Bible verse encourages us to memorize the Bible so that we might not sin against God. Memorizing Bible verses is just as important for today’s first responders as it was for Christians in the early church. Sadly, many first responders chose not to memorize Scripture. When you ask first responders who do not memorize the Bible you hear a lot of excuses. I am too old, it’s difficult for me, and I don’t have enough time usually are at the top of the list. I came across a Bible memorization app the other day that helps people memorize the word of God. It’s crazy when you think about it. As technology moves forward we have less and less excuses to do the things that God has been encouraging us to do all along. Lord, thank you for allowing technology to grow so that I might grow closer to You. Encouraging one another should be our primary goal!!
