Bible Nuggets… “They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him: (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)” Psalms 49:6-9 KJV THOUGHT: These verses in the Book of Psalms were so strong when I read them. How many of us could name people who were incredibly wealthy, incredibly intelligent and talented but when it came to the end of their lives, were unable to save themselves from death. Steve Jobs is one that comes to my mind…the co-founder of Apple was totally incapable of taking all his earthly wealth to buy his healing. Walt Disney was the same. They could not save themselves let alone redeem (save) anyone else nor pay enough money to God to redeem anyone else’s soul. Only God can save us. Nothing that we earn or give to charity will ever save us. Yes, God laid out a plan for how much money we give to Him and we must obey that Plan but we don’t give our 10% for our salvation…that portion already belongs to Him. It is our complete submission to His other Plan…the Plan of Salvation that will redeem our souls. Remember the story of the rich man and Lazarus. When the rich man had gone to hell and was begging for God to send someone to his brothers to keep them from the same fate, he wasn’t offering to pay God money to have that done. There is no money in Heaven or Hell.
