Bible Reading 2014 March 6=Deuteronomy 15-18 The Sending of the Prophet! (Read Deuteronomy 18:15-22) The promise of God to send a prophet to Israel is given here. This is a clear reference to the coming of the Messiah. Peter gives a clear statement to this in Acts 2:22,23. He was raised up by God. He was to be an Israelite. He would speak to them God’s word. God would judge those who would not hearken to the prophet. Acts 3:20-26 tells us almost exactly the same thing. He told Israel that the message of Jesus Christ coming had been preached by the prophets since the world began. He speaks of Samuel and the prophets that followed as speaking of that day. He even tells us that God raised Him (Jesus) up for the purpose of Jesus coming to Israel to turn them away from their iniquities. (John 1:11-14) But they rejected and killed Him. God kept His promise to Israel to send a deliverer but they denied Him and crucified Him. This opened the door for God’s great plan of redemption for all men. Now we by faith can accept the words and work of Jesus Christ as the fulfilled promise of God to send a prophet to His people. The prophet, the Messiah of Israel has become the Savior of the whole world. GOD’S SON CAME TO US SO WE CAN GO TO HIM!
