Bible Video Of The Day! Friday 31st January 2014 “......It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth...and becomes the greatest of all shrubs.....so that the birds of the air can make a nest in its shade.” REFLECTION Now Jesus adds two more parables about the kingdom and the word pictures are a growing seed and a mustard seed. The first word picture brings home the mysterious growth of the seed and the second word picture suggests the small beginning but the high potential of the seed. Neither of these is earned by any human person. It is a sheer gift of God. The growth of the kingdom is mysterious because even those who sow the seed (the preachers of the kingdom) do not know how well their word will bear fruit in the long run. The second word picture reveals the potential hidden in the seed. The seed itself has flowers, fruits, bark, branches, leaves, roots and stems etc. hidden in itself. What is needed is sowing and nurturing of the seed. This reality can console any despairing preacher. How do I look at the growth of the kingdom of God in my life? What steps can I take in order to sow the seed of the kingdom of God in the lives of the people around me? ~ Mark 4:26-34
