Bible study 12-24-14 Since it is the gift giving season let’s talk about gifts. Jesus asked if we as humans knew how to give good gifts, how much more so our heavenly Father? As gift givers do you ask people that you love what they want for Christmas or a birthday? Do you try to go and find those items they want? Think of your children and their requests. How many parents gave “Frozen” themed birthday parties this year simply because it was what their child wanted? How many parents bought “Ella” Halloween costumes because their children wanted them? How many went out and bought their children or loved ones exactly what they wanted for Christmas? How much more so the love of our heavenly Father? All we have to do is ask. Do not negotiate or promise, just ask. Why do we have to ask? I was pretty angry about this part because I didn’t have to ask for the bad things that happened to me. They pretty much just jumped right in my lap. Why should I have to ask for the good things from him? It is an acknowledgement that he is and recognition of where those gifts come from. Ask. What does he want in return? Praise and thanks, the same thing you want when you give a good gift. Why then the bad things? We also have an enemy. He figures if you are focused on the bad things you won’t think to ask for the good things. Remember the woman that anointed Jesus prior to his passion. It is a memorial to her that she shall be spoken of wherever the gospel of Jesus Christ is preached.
