Bible study: John 2:1-12: Water turned to wine: Verse 4: The scripture here we read, we look at the situation here of Mary and Jesus. We look at Mary who is all worried that the wine has run out and then you see Jesus who is just calm and his reply to Marys question is something that doesnt make sense to Mary or even us for that matter. Jesus replies by saying. Jesus said to her, [Dear] woman, what is that to you and to Me? [What do we have in common? Leave it to Me.] My time (hour to act) has not yet come. (John 2:4 AMP) - we have got to allow The Lord to bring patience in us, even when we are so close to receiving a promise from God or whatever it is He has shown us. Jesus was trying to show Mary patience to trust In Him, that He is The Lord and He will take care of the situation when the time is right. TO EVERYTHING there is a season, and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven: (Ecclesiastes 3:1 AMP). Verse 5: - this is the importance again of hearing what Jesus has to say, how much time do we spend in His word or in His presence. Once Jesus spoke to Mary she understood and now knew to trust The Lord and have patience in whatever was going on. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. [Prov. 6:23.] (Psalm 119:105 AMP) But if He says, I have no delight in you, then here I am; let Him do to me what seems good to Him. (2 Samuel 15:26 AMP) Verse 6-8: Why did Jesus say fill the water pots and then He said take some out? Sometimes The Lord wants us to have blind faith and learn to be a servant. Look at the servants here they dont ask Jesus any questions as to why He wants them to take water to the feast, but they just do as they are told by Jesus. They are obedient to His voice and what He is asking of them, but they have no clue what is about to happen. Verse 9: We look at the master here and he is absolutely amazed at what has just happened. He has no clue the miracle that has just been done before him, we dont have a clue how Jesus is working everything perfectly in our situations. As for God, His way is perfect! The word of the Lord is tested and tried; He is a shield to all those who take refuge and put their trust in Him. For who is God except the Lord? Or who is the Rock save our God, The God who girds me with strength and makes my way perfect? He makes my feet like hinds feet [able to stand firmly or make progress on the dangerous heights of testing and trouble]; He sets me securely upon my high places. (Psalm 18:30-33 AMP). Verse 10: We dont give The Lord the highest praise when He deserves it always, but we have gotten very used to only praising God when He is about to do something huge in our lives, but you see The Lord is showing us here that we should always give Him the highest praise regardless the situation. Yes The Lord blesses us greatly and has great desires for us, but this is not why we serve Him and this cant be our focus, our focus has to be to always see. His glory shown through our lives. To see those come to salvation that dont know Him. For us to go in the name of Jesus and restore and heal people. The Lord is always looking to give us the best in life but are we giving Him our best each and every single day with our whole life, being pleasing and obedient to His will in every single way. Jesus did not turn the water into wine just to show a miracle, of course He is the Lord He can do whatever He desires, whenever He desires, but He did it to have His glory manifested. The Lord wants His glory to be manifested in our lives in a way like never before. Verse 11: The Lord has put us in our situations were in for simply three huge reasons. 1. To see His glory manifested in our lives 2. To Know Jesus more 3. Be a living testimony to those who dont know Him and dont believe in Him Then Moses answered and said, “But suppose they will not believe me or listen to my voice; suppose they say, ‘The LORD has not appeared to you.’ ” So the LORD said to him, “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A rod.” And He said, “Cast it on the ground.” So he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from it. Then the LORD said to Moses, “Reach out your hand and take it by the tail” (and he reached out his hand and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand), “that they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.” Furthermore the LORD said to him, “Now put your hand in your bosom.” And he put his hand in his bosom, and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous, like snow. And He said, “Put your hand in your bosom again.” So he put his hand in his bosom again, and drew it out of his bosom, and behold, it was restored like his other flesh. “Then it will be, if they do not believe you, nor heed the message of the first sign, that they may believe the message of the latter sign. And it shall be, if they do not believe even these two signs, or listen to your voice, that you shall take water from the river and pour it on the dry land. The water which you take from the river will become blood on the dry land. ” (Exodus 4:1-9 NKJV).
