Biblical Allusions: This curriculum guide covers six major figures in the Christian Scriptures: Lazarus, Mary, Judas, Gabriel, Peter, and Jesus. Sixteen literary units covering novels, poetry, drama, and short stories are examined in the context of the biblical framework present in the artistic work. In addition, each of the six characters are further explored with close textual annotations from the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible and analyzed in Gallery Walks. In these videos, students will examine how artists such as Rembrandt, El Greco, and van Gogh have interpreted biblical figures in their masterworks.
