Bibliography re: Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) This list is alphabetical by author. Where there is no author, I have put the book in alphabetical order by title. Any mistakes or errors please email: fowler966@gmail In Dennis Haucks book, The International Directory of Haunted Places (ISBN 0140296352) he says that the ancient Roman Titis Livius reported that Romes first ruler Romulus was reviewing his troops on the Campus Martius when a strange storm cloud came out of nowhere and took him away. At any rate more than three hundred witnesses told the same story of his abduction by the mysterious cloud (page 121). Perhaps UFO books should start with ancient Rome instead of Kenneth Arnolds sighting in 1947. For more on Roman UFOs see Flying Saucers or Flying Shields by Richard Wittmann below. There is also a story of a Gray being killed in a colosseum. Please see the web page civilisation and aliens, under the heading 106 AD - Rome. This is also quoted in the book, The Alien Invasion Survival Handbook: A Defense Manual for the Coming Extraterrestrial Apocalypse by W. H. Mumfrey. (see below) For Canadian UFO studies Library and Archives Canada has put a little of Project Second Story which began in 1952. And the minutes from the very first meeting. CBC Archives has the television broadcast of the UFO over Montreal, which was broadcast on Novermber 7, 1994. With the description: On Nov. 7, 1990, a woman spots something in the sky while swimming in the rooftop pool of her downtown Montreal hotel. She sees a round, metallic object projecting a series of brilliant light beams. Her sighting sets off a chain reaction. She tells the lifeguard who calls the hotel security guard, who contacts the police and a journalist from La Presse newspaper. The RCMP, the military and even NASA are called in. The reporter for this broadcast was Pierre Mignault. Abeyratne, Ruwantissa I.R. The disk [saucer] rose into the air beside the train, with the whirling energy vortex below it. Except for the missing for understructs, it is remarkably similar to Blumrichs vision of Ezekiels wheel. There is also a picture on 139 that he compare to Blumrichs Ezekiels wheel. The book, The Science of UFOs was reviewed by Cait Goldberg in Science News (ISSN 0036–8423) on March 3, 2001, vol. 159, Issue 9, at page 130. Goldberg says that author relates accounts of unidentified flying objects and tests them against current theories. Explores the implications of relativity theory for traveling great distances in very little time, wormholes, and stretching time... Also reviewed in Publishers Weekly by Mark Rotella, Charlotte Abbott and Sarah Gold on December 18, 2000. vol. 247 issue 51 at page 65 readers will appreciate his objective, fact–based analysis of a range of purported extraterrestrial phenomena. Alexander, John B. UFOs : myths, conspiracies, and realities by John B. Alexander. 1st ed. New York : Thomas Dunne Books, 2011. xxv, 305 p. ; 25 cm. ISBN: 9780312648343 (hardback) or 0312648340 (hardback) Summary: While still on active duty in the U.S. Army during the 1980s, Colonel John B. Alexander, Ph.D. created an interagency group to explore the controversial topic of UFOs. Participants came from the Army, Navy, Air Force, CIA, NSA, DIA, and the aerospace industry. All members held Top Secret clearance. And what they discovered was not at all what was expected. UFOs covers the numerous cases they saw, and answers questions like: What was really in Hanger 18? Did a UFO really land at Holloman Air Force Base? What happened at Roswell? What is Majestic 12? What is the Aviary? What does the government know about UFOs? What has happened with disclosure in other countries? Has the US reverse engineered a UFO? Why don’t presidents get access to UFO info? UFOs is at once a complete account of Alexander’s findings, and a call to action. There are no conspiracy theories here––only hard facts–– but they are merely the beginning. Serious research is needed in order to understand and anticipate the workings of UFOs, and John Alexander is leading the charge –– Provided by publisher. Contents: Advanced theorectical physics project disclosed –– The Corso conundrum –– The Condon Report revisited –– The congressional hearings that never happened –– The presidential paradox –– Majestic 12 –– The Apollo Lunar Program –– Reverse-engineering UFOs –– Real cases and hard data –– The UK connection –– Sworn to secrecy –– What NATO knows –– Considerations, speculation, and puzzles addressed –– The Twilight Zone. Bryan Appleyard says on page 93 that a six page document was created in the U.K. around 1950. (I think he is getting this from the U.K. magazine, UFO magazine). This document was used to brief Prime Minister Churchill. The report concluded that all the sightings were explicable by natural phenomena or human activity. Its existence was, nevertheless, routinely denied by the Ministry of Defence for over fify years. (p. 93). Atherton, Robert H. On the Explanation of the So–Called Mysterious Circles. Abstracts of the Papers Communicated to the Royal Society of London, Vol. 6. (1850 – 1854), p. 33. See jstor. Atherton thinks that the cirlces were created by reflective air analogous to ordinary suction. Thus he gives the circle phenomena the usual brush off... He considers that the reflective air, thus rising and driven out by the descending current, will have additional power when the fixed card [he used cards to illustrate what happens with the wind] is considerably larger than the other. Surely there were others that knew at this time that some of these circles were cause by (air) ships.
