Big Butterfly Count 2013: This year they would like to make it the best Big Butterfly Count ever in Wales by getting over 1000 people to take part. This is the fourth year of Big Butterfly Count. It is a major project aimed at involving the public in a nationwide survey of butterflies during July and August, the peak time in the year for butterfly abundance. , the count will officially run for three weeks from Saturday 20 July to Sunday 11 August. However, the website is already open and will remain open until 31 August, so people can actually participate throughout the two months. There will be a media launch, with Sir David Attenborough and Joanna Lumley at the London Wetland Centre on Thursday18 July. Sightings can only be submitted online, either via the website bigbutterflycount.org or via a new Big Butterfly Count smartphone app. (see website).
