Big Congrats to Ms. Kyle Love and Ms. Fiona Lofton! Several Columbia College faculty, staff, and students attended the Carolinas Communication Association’s annual conference in Charlotte, NC, Oct 4-5. Ms. Kyle Love, Senior Lecturer of Communication Studies along with Ms. Fiona Lofton, Career Coach in Columbia College’s new Center for Career Coaching and Development I presented a 75-minute session on the partnership they formed when Ms. Love revised Business and Professional Communication (COMM 220). The faculty members in the audience were quite impressed with what Columbia College is doing to prepare in regards to student professionally development; many of them wished they could take Ms. Lofton home with them. Kyle Love also presented on a 75-minute session on Columbia College’s Pearce Communication Lab which has typically a model for newer labs across the Carolinas. Ms. Love is the former head of the National Association of Communication Centers and the audience learned that Columbia College’s Communication Lab has depth of experience few can match. Further, the lab at Columbia College has tremendous support from our Communication Studies program and Provost which makes us the envy of many; labs at other school are not always so well supported.
