Big Windy Closes Wild Section of the Rogue; Threatens Black Bar Lodge & Zane Grey CabinThe Big Windy complex of fires has grown almost 800 acres today. This is the fire that has closed Bear Camp Road and now is forcing the closure of the Wild Section of the Rogue River at Midnight tonight. The fire threatens the Black Bar Lodge, boaters and campgrounds on the Rogue River, the Zane Grey historic cabin and the Rogue River Ranch. It is now listed at 2,914 acres and is being staffed with 186 fire fighters.An advisory evacuation has been issued for the Oak Flat and Brushy Bar areas being affected by the Labrador Fire 13 miles north west of Cave Junction. The fire is now listed at 1750 acres with 425 firefighters assigned. The Douglas Complex of fires has consumed 25,396 acres with 1,387 fire fighters trying to add to the five percent containment. There is a pre-evacuation notice given to over 40 additional structures.Ten percent containment has been achieved on the Brimstone Fire ten miles northwest of Merlin, still estimated at 2,000 acres with 773 fire fighters standing in its way.All personnel on the fire lines are concerned about the possible lightning storms predicted to occur early Wednesday morning.The air quality in Grants Pass is classified as hazardous.
