Bigfoot 99 Presents our Rockin Pet of the Week! Mac wandered - TopicsExpress

Bigfoot 99 Presents our Rockin Pet of the Week! Mac wandered into a remote homestead on the desert north of Rawlins, wearing a collar with a name and phone number on it, skinny, wounded, and tired. We were able to get his history from his former owner, who is working out of the area and decided he should have a better chance at life since he wont be able to pick him up any time soon. Mac is a border collie, about two years old. He is a male, and he is a LOVE! He adores people, and his former owner has kids ranging from 2-8 years in age and said Mac loved the kids and they loved him. He found Mac on the desert near Riverton, and he lost him again on the desert north of Wamsutter a few months later. He searched and couldnt find him, so he was glad to hear that Mac had found a good place to be. Mac is quite smart. He has let us clean his wounds and is on antibiotics, because the source of them is likely coyotes. We figure Mac fit him, because he is a pretty tough dog to have survived in the wild as long as he did and yet, he is so sweet! Mac will be neutered soon, and we hope that puts an end to his wandering soul. In all fairness, Mac is young, and we think he was really just unable to keep up with the work he was being asked to do out there on the range. Mac may be suited to work on a smaller cattle operation, or with sheep. He is timid when it comes to training, but he is very intelligent and willing to please. He would do quite well in a pet home, but he is an active dog. We can see that while he is worn out now from his extensive travels and survival, he has stamina and grit. So we suspect he is going to be a handful when he is back to weight and health! He will need a gentle hand to continue the training we have begun with him at CLC RR. If you can give Mac the right combination of gentle love and leadership, and keep his intelligent mind and enduring stamina occupied, please submit the guardianship application found at caringlearningconnecting.org - you will be glad you did. Come meet Mac and other adoptable pets at our Home for the Holidays Adoption events at the Platte Valley Ranch Supply Store on Thursdays through December and in Rawlins at the Depot on Saturday, December 13th from 10-130.
