**Biiterly cold arctic air will arrive to the Mid-South tonight** A strong Arctic Cold Front will sweep through the area late this evening and early overnight. North winds of 15 to 25 MPH will gust as high as 35 MPH, dropping wind chills into the single digits north of I-40 Monday morning. Temperatures will warm little if any on Monday, and may fall during the afternoon. Wind chills will peak in the upper single digits north of I-40 and the mid to upper teens south of Clarksdale to Tupelo, MS. Wind chills may drop to a few degrees below zero early Tuesday morning, necessiataing a wind chill advisory. Winds will subside by Tuesday night. With clear skies and Arctic high pressure centered over the Mid-South, Wednesday morning low temperatures will fall into the single digits over most of the region. Sub-zero temperatures will be possible in the Tennessee River Valley. Temperatures will warm to near freezing Wednesday afternoon, but will not likely warm well above freezing across the Mid-South until Thursday. MidSoutherners should prepare now for the extreme cold! Check on the elderly and homebound. Consider boarding outside animals indoors. Protect exposed water pipes with insulation or heated plumbers tape to reduce the risk of freezing and bursting. If using portable heaters, be safe! Adhere strictly to heater manufacture safety guidelines. Be aware of carbon mononxide dangers associated with combustible fuel heaters, particularly when used in poorly ventilated areas. Never used outdoor grills or heaters indoors.
