Bike Washington D.C. Tuesday, April 1, 2014 to Saturday, April 5, 2014 Washington D.C. is noted for its extensive and scenic network of biking trails. This trip features daily biking that includes a tour past the major monuments and a ride to Mount Vernon. Our lodging in Arlington is located just across the Potomac River from the nightlife of Georgetown. Numerous bike trails branch out from this location and the metro is conveniently located nearby. We plan a day of riding around the memorials and museums on the Mall, as well as an evening visit when the crowds have left. The Washington/Mount Vernon bike trail follows the Potomac River ending at George Washington’s estate. This 18-mile route is one of the area’s most scenic and is mostly flat with a few hills, about 50% shaded with cooling river breezes. The ride continues with a stop in Olde Town Alexandria. Another ride will take us along the C & O Canal, up the Capitol Crescent Trail and through Rock Creek Park. This 21-mile route will give us a full day of activities to enjoy, including a stop at the National Zoo where we will have lunch before continuing our ride. This trip was one of our most highly rated when last offered in 2007. We look forward to sharing this fun, interesting and educational adventure with you!
