Bike thieves lose plea after missing deadline TWO teenagers who stole motorbikes have lost appeals against their three-month jail sentences. The 18-year-old Bahrainis were spotted by police trying to steal a motorbike on Al Sasa Highway, in Manama, last March. They tried to flee on motorbikes that they had already stolen, but were chased down and arrested along with a 15-year-old, whose case was referred to the Juvenile Court. One of the 18-year-olds claimed their younger accomplice was the ringleader, but he told prosecutors that the older youths forced him to do it. They kept on telling me that we should steal a bike in Manama although I didnt want to do that, he said in his statement to the prosecutors. However, they insisted and I agreed to ride with them and we headed to Manama. A policeman saw them while they were stealing a new bike and I was arrested because I froze. However, they got on their bikes and escaped, but were later arrested by the police. The two 18-year-olds were jailed for three months each in July by the High Criminal Court for attempted theft. They lodged appeals at the High Criminal Appeals Court, which were rejected yesterday for being filed late. #ila
