BikeFest returns to Piqua September of 2015 PIQUA, Oh. --- (January 22, 2015) Piqua BikeFest’s inaugural event, held the weekend of September 19-20, 2014 in Downtown Piqua and at Gover Harley-Davidson, was a huge success. The event was based on the re-creation of a group photograph that was taken 100 years earlier in front of Hemm Brothers Harley-Davidson on South Main Street. It brought thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts to the Piqua community for the two-day event. Many local residents also participated by visiting the downtown area and Gover H-D where there were many vendors, displays and live entertainment. After consulting with city officials and receiving many requests from local residents to make it an annual event, the committee has decided that it will host Piqua BikeFest again in 2015. “We received a lot of support from the Piqua community for this event and we wanted to give back,” said Russ Fashner, Treasurer of Piqua BikeFest. As a result of the success of the event the Piqua BikeFest committee was able to give three local non-profit organizations unexpected donations just before Christmas. The donations were as follows: $4000 to the Friends of the Piqua Parks for the Pitsenbarger statue, $1000 to the Piqua Salvation Army and $1,000 to Piqua Neighborhood Improvement, Inc. The 2015 Piqua Bikefest will be held Friday, September 18 and Saturday, September 19 with activities once again planned at Gover Harley-Davidson and historic downtown Piqua. “We are actively looking for vendors, sponsors, entertainment and people who would like to get involved with Piqua BikeFest in 2015. We need individuals to assist with planning the event as well as volunteers who would be willing to work on the weekend of the event,” states Greg Foughty, President of the Piqua BikeFest Committee. Committees will meet regularly between now and September and will be tasked with coordinating various aspects of the event such as parking, entertainment, promotion, etc. Individuals interested in serving on a committee should call or email Greg Foughty at Gover H-D at 937-773-8733 or greg@goverhd. Those interested in volunteering on September 18-19 for things such as t-shirt sales, traffic control, beer ticket sales, or set-up and tear down, are asked to email Dan Lawrence at dlawrence@davedennis. Local businesses and organizations are also encouraged to join in the festivities and help support Piqua BikeFest by becoming a sponsor or exhibitor. Expanded vendor opportunities are available for those interested in setting up shop and taking advantage of the crowds drawn by the rally. Every effort will be made to help local organizations get involved. For information on sponsorship, vendor or exhibitor opportunities please call 937-381-9389 or email sales.piquabikefest@gmail.
