Bill Banker and Jennifer Whittlesey, I know you think I forgot about seven days of being grateful after I got to day five. I made it through family and kids and pretty well picked on everybody. Next in line logically was my wife Maria. That was back in August or early September as I recall. About then the weather was changing, warm and wet, lots of flies and consequently a shit storm of dead calves. We were going nuts trying to figure out what was going on, getting experts from all over to look over our shoulders. In the final analyses it appears to have been a variety of problems associated with salmonella. This is where Maria comes in. She spent a major portion of the last three months getting that put back in order, 12-14 hrs a day tending to sick babies and doing and thinking of little else but those calves. She has been my sweetheart for thirty three years and my business partner for thirty years. Always a lady, a rock and someone who can go from smelling like a cow to ready for an important meeting in about five minutes and looking very slick. A moniker I have had for Maria forever has been my favorite wife . I discovered after we moved to Utah that that took on a whole different meaning than I ever imagined. I still call her that and I still only have one wife. Her response to that is if I had another wife, I would still only have one wife. Maria has good rapport with just about anybody. She helps me save face by convincing me sometimes to keep my mouth shut and not say things I might be sorry for later. She cares about other people even at the expense of her own comfort, enjoyment and sometimes sleep. I was lucky enough to marry way above myself and get a very large family that I never knew I wanted. We celebrated our 30 th anniversary last July. Its been a very good year in some respects and very testing in others. If not for Maria, who planned to not marry a dairyman life would be a lot different and not in a good way. I love you favorite wife. Thanks for letting up with me all this time.
