Bill Ritter was the Governor of Colorado. In fact, his wife was a substitute teacher at the parochial elementary school I attended. I like Bill Ritter, and his concern for the environment. However, after the votes were cast in this debate, people remained skeptical that clean energy is a road for economic growth and recovery. The energy industry is special, because it allows all other industries to function. Therefore, cheap energy is the bottom line when you want to grow an economy. The debaters against the motion the best points in my opinion. Especially when Robert Bryce (though a climate change agnostic) said, If youre anti-carbon-dioxide and anti-nuclear, youre pro-blackout. Nuclear energy hits both the criteria of being clean, and driving the economy. Why do these ideas have to be at odds with each other.
