Bill Young officiated my wedding (well, Tommy Thompson officiated, Bill objected). Bill was one of the first people that was welcoming to me when I moved up into the Minneapolis comedy scene - he was always welcoming to everyone new in the scene. Im sure 95% of comics in this city would say the same thing about Bill. In a social circle known for how much shit people talk about eachother all the time, I cant honestly remember a single negative thing he ever said about anyone. How is that even possible? God, I hate the idea of having to try and write down a single thought that reminds me of Bill. Everyone has one though, right? That giant stupid grin. That hug that feels like it was from your mom, but way fatter and with more of a beard. The fact that he was always always always on. He was always the first guy to punch of the writeups I would make for shows. He was always the first guy to punch up everything, right? Every year on my birthday Id make a point to post at midnight saying In lieu of posting on my wall, please go poke Bill Young. So every year, for the last 4 years, my birthday has been just about trying to make a group of 200 people break facebook for Bill. I keep going to his stupid facebook page.
