Bill and I celebrated a late Christmas with our daughter, Jenny, - TopicsExpress

Bill and I celebrated a late Christmas with our daughter, Jenny, and her husband, Terry, in Philadelphia this weekend. Her first gift to me was a Christmas ornament of the Liberty Bell. I got very emotional about it for two reasons. The first is that I have always said that one could tell the story of my married life by the ornaments which hang on our Christmas tree. The second has to do with the idea of LIBERTY itself. The blood of our forefathers was shed to establish liberty in the War for Independence from Great Britain and I know for sure that my great grandfather fought to enlarge that liberty to include former slaves in the Civil War. But, liberty, once lost, is difficult to regain. Liberty is never secure unless each generation is ever vigilant to guard against those who wish to encroach on our liberty. When our freedoms of religion, of speech, of the press, to peacefully assemble, to petition our government, or any of the other freedoms we inherently have that are protected by the U.S & CT Constitutions and Plymouth Charter are infringed, we must speak up or they WILL be lost. What will YOU do this day and every day to preserve our LIBERTY?
