Bill and Susan of the Tuck-A-See Wanderers in Nashville, Tennessee - TopicsExpress

Bill and Susan of the Tuck-A-See Wanderers in Nashville, Tennessee welcomed us into their home last night with spaghetti, good conversation, their dog Allie to love on and comfortable beds. Thanks for your hospitality. ☺ Bill just started volksmarching in November, but you wouldnt know it based on how quickly he has learned the ropes and become a trailmaster. He modified the Nashville YRE for us this morning so that we could hit the highlights in 7km. We left the start point and crossed a bridge over I-40/65 and the Nashville train yard. In the picture I took from the bridge you can see downtown Nashville, with the old Union Station on the left and the Batman (AT&T) Building on the right. The next photo is of a bridge support cover with the names of railroad lines engraved on it. Can you see the piano keyboard in the windows of the Country Music Hall of Fame? On many street intersections music (country, jazz, show tunes, etc. ) was heard from a box on the corner. We wandered around the streets of Nashville.... Music Row, Printers Alley, Lower Broadway and more. At the Capitol we saw President James Polks grave. Polk was the 11th president. He expanded the borders of the United States to the Pacific Ocean, added 3 states to the Union, started the Naval Academy, commissioned the Washington Monument and issued the first postal stamp. I guess we have a lot to thank him for on this trip... From the Capitol we could see Bicentennial Mall which was modeled after the National Mall. The Tennessee Capitol Building is one of only ten U.S. Capitol buildings without a dome. We found a geocache at the war memorials and then made our way to the Ryman Auditorium. It was here that the Grand Ole Opry was recorded for 31 years. It continues to play host to world-class performers. After one more look at Union Station, which is now a fancy hotel, we completed our walk and the Martins sent us on our way to Little Rock.
