Bill in Legislature would outlaw pit bull bans A state lawmaker has proposed a bill to undo breed-specific ordinances such as Yakima’s ban on pit bulls. The bill was pre-filed earlier this month by state Rep. Sherry Appleton, D-Poulsbo, ahead of the legislative session next month. It would allow cities to keep their “dangerous dog” ordinances, which Yakima also has, but says breed-specific laws put “undue hardship” on responsible dog owners.
